Shirts

Any solid red, white or navy blue collared shirt:  Shirt styles may include polo shirts with long or short sleeves, oxford dress shirts with long or short sleeves, as well as Peter Pan and sailor collared blouses for the girls.

Long and short sleeve polo shirts:  Polo shirts in solid red, white or navy blue of any type may be worn.  Polo shirts with the school logo in any of these colors will also be acceptable.

Turtlenecks:  Long or short sleeve knit shirts in solid red, white or navy blue only.

Tee Shirts:  Students who have purchased logo tee shirts from the Booster Club the past couple of years may wear them.  These are the only collar-less shirts allowed.

**All shirts must be tucked into pants, skirts, skorts, shorts, and jumpers at all times.

 Pants, Shorts, and Skirts

Pants:  Navy blue and khaki tan cotton twill or corduroy dress or uniform style slacks are acceptable on boys and girls at any time.  White pants or shorts do not adhere to the uniform policy.  Pants must be of the appropriate size and length.  Pants must fit appropriately being neither too long in the inseam nor too low on the hip.  Parents are asked to maintain uniforms to more or less than one size too large or too small on their children.  NO Dickies, nylon pants, sweats, or denim jeans of any style will be acceptable.

Shorts:  Navy blue and khaki tan cotton twill or corduroy walking length shorts with or without cuff will be accepted throughout the year.  Shorts must be of an appropriate length, falling at a minimum to the end of the child's fingertips when the arms are hung comfortable at the side.

Pull-up uniforms, slacks and shorts for Kindergarten only:  Pull-up style slacks, shorts and skorts with elastic style waistbands will be acceptable on Kindergarten students only.  As children master the use of zippers and buttons, parents are encouraged to introduce regular uniform apparel in the child's wardrobe.

Belts (optional):  Children are encouraged to wear navy, black or brown belts when pants provide belt loops.  Kindergarten and first grade children may struggle with belts and should not wear them until they are capable of adjusting a belt.

Skirts, skorts and jumpers:  Solid navy blue and khaki tan cotton twill or corduroy uniform jumpers, skirts and skorts are acceptable.  Plaid skirts, skorts and jumpers in the adopted Chavez School plaid are acceptable.  Girls must wear appropriate undergarments when wearing skirts and dresses.  Girls are encouraged to wear solid navy, white or khaki colored shorts under skirts at all times as this will facilitate physical activities and floor exercises.  Skirts must be of an appropriate length, falling at a minimum to the end of the child's fingertips when her arms are hung comfortably at her side.

Outer Garments

Sweatshirts and sweaters:  Plain crew neck, cardigan and hooded sweatshirts in solid red, white, navy or khaki tan may be worn.  Items with the school logo are acceptable.

Jackets:  Jackets that contain team identification are NOT acceptable.  Small brand name logos are acceptable.  Jackets should be of the appropriate size.

Shoes and Socks

Shoes:  Appropriate shoes should be a priority as students are required to participate in physical activities such as running, jumping, skipping, etc.  Dress shoes, sandals without back straps and thong-style shoes of any type are not acceptable.  Parents are also discouraged from sending students in slippery or uncomfortable dress shoes, platform shoes, high heels or any other shoes that may restrict their full participation in school activities.

Socks:  Parents are encouraged to send children in socks that compliment the school's uniform choices.  Socks in the following colors would be favorable: navy blue, white, red, or khaki tan.

Accessories

Hats:  Hats, caps, stocking caps, bandannas, or headscarves are not acceptable.

Earrings:  Body piercing and nose rings are not acceptable.  Earrings for boys are not acceptable.
