Parents

The school community is actively involved with school activities through the Chavez Booster Club and School Site Council.  Parents are invited to a conference with their child’s teacher for the first reporting period in November.  Test scores, report cards, grades and behavior are discussed.  We have a very high level of parent participation at these conferences.  Parents are also invited to attend all assemblies, programs and staff development days.  A monthly newsletter is sent home.

The Chavez Booster Club sponsors several fund-raising activities. A parent committee raises money for Camp K.E.E.P. , student awards, field trips and various projects.  Parents support various programs including DARE graduation and the mandatory student uniform policy.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer at the school.  On any given day, you will see parents assisting children in the before school chess program, working in small groups with students, selling ice cream to raise money for field trips, volunteering in the office, and assisting in the Magnet program.
